What a lovely Friday we had today! We were all very engaged and happy interacting with our educators and friends. We started the morning off in the big fort yard. Dion and Holly enjoyed a play in here with Miss Mona. They both did a wonderful job climbing up the rope ladder. They both repeated this over and over again. Once we were in the front yard with the unders group Kai, Ashton, Kento, Hrihan and Leo joined us! We had a lot of cuddles before playing in the sandpit and climbing the tree climbing frame. We came inside just at 9 and sat down at the tables for lunch.

Leo was excited to find a shell on top of the lockers when we came inside. We weren’t sure how it ended up on there but he held it during morning tea and was excited to show Miss Mona and Miss Lauren saying “Shell”.

We decided to do a playdough activity again today as we were all very interested in this yesterday. When Leo saw Miss Mona holding playdough he said “YEAH!!!” and ran to pull a chair out and sit down. Dion, Holly, Kento, Ashton and Leo all sat down around the table and Miss Mona put playdough in front of them. She also put some loose parts, a basket of shells to extend on Leo’s interest in the shell he found this morning and some imprint blocks. The blocks had lots of different types of branches, leaves and native Australian animals. Miss Mona demonstrated how to flatten out the playdough and press the block onto it and when you lift it up you can see the imprint.

Leo was very excited to find a starfish in the box of shells. He held it up and said “Star!” He used its ends to poke the playdough and also tried to put the star into the playdough to see what imprint it made. He liked using a shell to dig into the side of his playdough. Leo spent a lot of time using different blocks to make prints on his playdough. He also made a cake telling Miss Mona that it was a “Birthday cake”.

Dion was very busy trying to make lots of prints onto his playdough. He held out the blocks to Mona so that she could help him press them down hard enough. Every time the blocks were lifted up and a print was left he would put his fingers out to feel it and then look at to Mona or Lauren and try to tell them what he could see.

Ashton was also interested in the prints that the blocks made in his playdough. He carefully ran his fingers along the prints. One block had a bug looking animal on it and when he made this print he said “Oh bug!!!” He also liked using the shells to cut bits of his playdough up.

Holly loved feeling the shells. She rolled them into her playdough and was feeling them very carefully. Holly also liked using the blocks to make prints. She was very excited when she made a leaf and tree print, pointing to it so that Mona, Lauren and her friends could see too.

Kento sat next to Miss Lauren who helped show him how to use the blocks. Kento got the hang of it very quickly and repeated doing this over and over again. He used lots of different shells to roll, press and cut his playdough too. He loved singing along to the wiggles as he played here.

Hrihan was very busy exploring the room. His favourite spot today was on the mat building with the blocks. He concentrated very hard on stacking them one by one on top of one another until there was too many and they fell down. He repeated this a few times before using the wooden tree parts to do this. He had to be extra careful when balancing the tree parts as they are all different shapes and sizes. He was very engaged in this activity. He also liked trying to balance some pine cones on top of his towers too.

Once Ashton had finished playing with the playdough he joined Hrihan over here with the blocks and tree parts. Ashton also liked balancing the pine cones.

Kai did lots of animal play today. He took the animal basket from the shelf and found his favourite penguin. He took his penguin and walked it over lots of different places in the room. Kai stopped to sit down in the transport area and concentrated on building a long car ramp with the tracks and then walked the penguin over it.

Leo went into the transport area and found a small plane. He held it up and said to Miss Mona “Plane, Leo plane”. He then took Miss Mona and showed her the picture of a plane that was hanging up in the transport area. Miss Mona said “Does that look like the plane that you went on Leo” and he said “Yeah!”.

Dion, Kai and Kento did some role playing with the food in home corner also. Hrihan and Ashton enjoyed some quiet reading time in book area. Ashton loved reading the digger and truck books while Hrihan liked the colourful fish books.

At 10:30 we packed away and headed in the big fort yard for a play. We don’t spend very much time in this yard so we all were so happy to be out here! Ashton, Kai, Holly, Dion and Kento did lots of climbing on the rope ladder while Hrihan explored the pirate ship with Miss Lauren. Leo found a big truck up in the bark area and liked driving this around.

We came back inside after 15 minutes because it started to rain! We sat on our balcony and sang some songs together while we waited for lunch to be made. We loved the song “Round and Round the garden”. We put our hands out so Miss Mona could do the actions and laughed! We soon were doing this with our friends.

Lennox arrived around lunchtime and enjoyed some delicious roast veggies before heading to bed with his friends!
