Our Story-

What a fun filled morning we all had together, Lexie and Daisy ran up to one another at drop off with a huge cuddle and enjoyed playing on the seesaw together taking it in turns. Karina, Mia, Jordie and Ray loved making sandcastles in the sand together and then crushing then with their feet. Mathew, Andrew, Robbie and Sonny loved driving the large digger and bikes around the yard trying to chase one another. After our morning outdoors we all sat at the door and took our shoes and hats off and made our way inside for group time with Miss Pishaya, whilst Miss Bianca helped us on the toilet and prepared our yummy morning tea.

We began group time with a good morning song- “Good morning to you” “good morning to you” “good morning everybody good morning to “Robbie” as we went around the room singing one another’s names. We then sang our daily acknowledgement to the Traditional custodians of this land in which we are here today “here is land, here is the sky, here are my friends and here am I”.

Today for group time Miss Bianca asked who would like to pick a story for the day. Sonny jumped up and shouted “me” Sonny chose a book called the happy hippo, the story was about a little Hippo and all the things that make him happy throughout the day.  Once we finished the story Miss Bianca asked what makes us all feel happy? Robbie, Daisy and Lexie replied with “ice cream”, Mathew and Andrew said toys and Diollo said lollies.  Miss Bianca then asked Robbie to stand up and show the group his show and tell today. Robbie had a weekend sheet with pictures of him visiting reptiles from the wild rangers at pacific fair. We all loved looking at the snake and crocodile Robbie was holding in the photos “Ooo ahhh” Daisey yelled We then sang our names, washed our hands, and transitioned for morning, for morning tea today the children loved yoghurt, fresh seasonal fruits and Jelly.

After morning teatime, it was time for the children to explore the activities and different learning environment’s that Miss Bianca, Mr Hiroshi and Miss Pishaya had set up and the children to self-select for themselves- This included:

  • Outdoor play
  • Sand play
  • Imaginary play with babies
  • Home corner
  • Painting handprints
  • Dolls house
  • Loose parts corner
  • Playdough with reptiles

Today for activity time Robbie, Jordie and Daisy sat down at the table with Mr Hiroshi and painted their handprints Robbie chose yellow and Daisy and Jordie chose pink. They loved pressing their hands onto the paper and seeing their handprints once they lifted their hands off the paper. Robbie giggled “look my hands” with a huge smile on his face. The children have loved working on their self-identities this week through self-portraits and their handprints with different paints. Ray, Sonny, Robbie, Diollo and Mia also loved playing at the playdough table today with snakes and crocodiles and making grass for the animals to crawl on. Mia showed the children how to make patterns on the dough with the rolling pin to make it look like grass “wow” said Ray and he began rolling the dough out.  Lexie, Daisy and Karina loved playing with Miss Emma on the floor with babies and beauty bags and showing Miss Emma how to look after the babies.  Mathew and Andrew enjoyed playing together with trucks and small toy cars and driving them around on the mat they also loved playing in the loose parts corner. Miss Bianca went over and asked the boys what they were doing? “Mathew replied we are sorting the shells into bowls” Andrew then giggled and turned to Miss Bianca and said “yes with tweezers too”.   We then began packing away ready to transition for lunch.

Prior to lunch the children are learning to help pack away the toys and grabbing their hats and shoes for a play outdoors. The Toddler two class are learning all about self-help skills this year and looking after their belongings and personal hygiene.  The children are doing a great job!

Today for lunch we loved serving up our own salad and fish bites with fried rice.  It was then time for us to head to bed and rest our bodies. We provide an opportunity for the children to re energise their little bodies. We need all our energy back to explore our environment for the afternoon. After our rest it was time for our afternoon tea, we had seasonal fruits and cheese. After we finished afternoon tea, we put our plates away, put on our sunscreen, shoes, and hats and made our way outdoors to spend the afternoon with our friends and educators.

Thank you, Toddlers 2 for a fun filled Thursday.
