Centre Philosophy– Centre Philosophy- Learning Experiences connect with and extend children’s way of knowing, skill’s and understandings which they bring with them from home and the community to the early childhood setting.
This morning the children loved running around in the light rain and filling little buckets with water and adding soap and sand and stirring it up to make a fluffy consistency, Leo and Mason started a chasey group and told everyone to chase whoever had the ball around the yard and once caught it was someone else’s turn. After our morning outdoors we all sat at the door and took our shoes off and made our way inside for group time with Miss Bianca, whilst Miss Pishaya helped us on the toilet and prepared our yummy morning tea. Today for morning tea we had seasonal fruits and yoghurt.
This morning for group time we went around in a circle and sang our names from our name tags and stuck them on the wall so we could see who was here today, we then sang our daily acknowledgement to the land and elders of the community. Today Benji and Bobbie stood up in front of the group and showed off their show and tell, Bobbie brought in a fluffy dog toy and Benji showed everyone his action figurine. We then read a story about a little reindeer who was the smallest of them all but never gave up trying to fly. We then went around the room and spoke about what we wanted to leave Santa when he visit’s our houses on Christmas Eve.
After morning teatime, it was time for the children to explore the activities and different learning environment’s that Miss Bianca and Miss Pishaya had set up and the children self-select for themselves- This included:
- Outdoor play
- Arts and Crafts (Christmas gifts)
- Building with blocks creating cars
- Water play
- Sensory snow
- Christmas carols
Today for activity time Breanna, Noah, Kento, Nidhan, Benji and Lilo loved sitting down at the table with Miss Pishaya writing and drawing pictures of what they wanted from Santa Clause this year. Malia and Irina enjoyed Christmas craft with paper plates, Christmas confetti and glitter and covering the plates in everything. Hrihan and Lilo loved reading books and playing with different coloured cubes and connecting them together to create patterns. Eden, Mason and Leo loved making paths with pillows and blocks for them to hop around the room on to get away from the hot lava on the floor. Yuvein and Noah enjoyed making tunnels for their toy cars. Weston, Bill, Alston and Kai enjoyed playing outside with Miss Bianca in the water buckets and playing with water cups and funnels.
Prior to lunch the children have been helping pack away the toys and grabbing their bed sheets and making their own beds for rest time. The senior kindy class are learning all about self-help skills and doing things for themselves and looking after their belongings and personal hygiene. The children are doing a great job dressing and undressing themselves and putting the sheets on their beds and learning to do most things on their own without any assistance from their educators.
Today for lunch we enjoyed salad and sushi. It was then time for us to head to bed and rest our bodies. We provide an opportunity for the children to re energise their little bodies. We need all our energy back to explore our environment for the afternoon. After our rest it was time for our afternoon tea, we had seasonal fruits and zucchini and apple slice. After we finished afternoon tea, we put our plates away, put on our sunscreen, shoes, and hats all by ourselves and made our way outdoors to spend the afternoon with pre kindy.
Thank you, Senior Kindy for a fun filled day.
