Good afternoon everyone!! We hope everyone had a fun, fabulous, freaky Friday!
We were very busy in the kindy 2 room today. An interest of the childrens which has come up this week is magic. Yesterday we read the book “The Magic Hat” and then in arts and crafts some of the children made some hats using collage materials. Some of the children didn’t get to make theirs as we ran out of time so tofay we provided this activity for the children again. The table was very busy with the children working hard on making their magic hats. Gab who started this interest asked if we could look at some magicians so later on during the day we watched a clip of the famous magician Dynomo for the children to see what kind of things magicians can do.

This Sunday the 3rdMarch is Clean Up Australia Day. During morning group time Miss Jaime introduced the children to this very important day. While talking about this day and what it involes we also discussed what can happen if rubbish is left in our parks and on our beaches. We looked at the effects it can have on animals and the serious harm that it can cause them by looking at some photo’s on Fredrick (the computer). To follow on with this topic we provided the children with an activity where they had to clean up what was a pretend beach. In some large containers we placed some sand from the sandpit and then put some rubbish in them. The children had to use chop sticks to try and pick the rubbish out and put it in the bin. Through using the chop sticks the children were being encouraged to use their fine motor skills as they had to open and close them with control to be able to try and pick up the rubbish. It was a bit tricky as a lot of the rubbish was very thin like paper and plastic. Later in the afternoon we went for a walk around the centre to see if there was any rubbish that needed to be cleaned up.

While outside today Alex and Hunter had created a great game with the trucks. They used the large wooden wobble board as a ramp and proped up one end with a stepping stone and used another stepping stone to stop the board from moving. They then pushed their truck and as it came to end of the wobble board it was launched into the air. They worked out that the higher they proped up the board the higher into the air it would go. This was ok when it was just the kindy 2 class outside as there was lots of rom to do this. Though when kindy 1 came out to play it was very busy and we explained that we can’t lauch the trucks into the air that high as if can be dangerous. They then kept it lower and still had lots and lots of fun. Great work boys!
Have a great weekend everyone!
