CHRSITMAS…

Today the children were invited to create their wish list for Santa.  We used some Christmas paper and some pencils to create the lists.  Everyone soon became involved with this activity which was great, with lots of different ideas and wishes being shared.  Three tables placed together was used for this activity as most of the children became involved and showed interest.

BLOCKS….

Summer spent some time on the mat building with the small blocks, as she continued creating towers.

Earlier in the morning some flat wooden blocks were used to build a tower out of, this was revisited inside by Sienna and Kian who created an even taller tower!

Look into the habitat of Hedgehogs, Echidna’s and Porcupines.

Outdoor

A PORCUPINE!

Sienna found another piece of fluff caught up in some outside debris which she called a Porcupine.  Sienna found a small bowl to place it in as she carefully held it within her hands.  Vahni went to find the piece she called a hedgehog and also placed it with the ‘porcupine’.  Vahni and Sienna then decided to place some water with it so ‘they’ would be cool.

BLOCKS….

Once again block construction was used to create a tower.  Kian, Jemma D, Marena, and Sienna took turns as they carefully placed each block in different angles top make a tall tower.  Jemma D spent some time placing flat blocks into rows.

SHOP…

Olivia and Georgia spent some time interacting within our shop which we recently established.

Connectedness – “Shows increasing respect for environments” – Interacting with natural materials within active learning and making connections creatively.

                                      GROUP TIME –

We came inside early due to the warm weather.  We started our day by revisiting ‘A snowy night’ which is our Christmas story about the hedgehog.  We used our world map to talk about which countries that the animals live. 

SINGING….

After we cleaned up we went to kindergarten two for our last graduation practice before our ceremony tomorrow night.  Following this we engaged in an action song called singing in the rain.  Miss Claire’s class has a similar song which they showed us following our song.

We then engaged in musical statues before getting ready for lunch.

REST TIME….

During rest time we set our tables back up and continued working on our lists and Christmas art. 

YARNING CIRCLE……

Today we used our yarning circle to talk about what we wrote upon our Christmas wish lists.

STORY TIME….

Following afternoon tea we had story time, we selected some books with the children.  

Active learning – “Increasing confidence and involvement in learning” – Confidence in learning and engaging in large and small group experiences.

Communicating – “expanding ways to use language” – Singing as a group

-“Engaging with literacy in personally meaningful ways” – Writing and engaging in pre writing activities, making connections between letters and there place in words.

Identity – “Building a sense of security and trust” – Being supported and accepted by fellow peers, both rooms.

 (Yugambeh language for areas of play.)

PIPES OR GUTTERING????

We would appreciate any pipes or old guttering which we may use in the sandpit.  Yesterday some of the children had created a river in the sandpit and were watching the direction of water, we would love it have some pipes or guttering within our outdoor environment for the children to use within their explorations!!

END OF YEAR PREPARATIONS….

We would appreciate any help for filing some of the children’s work, please let us know if you would be able to help.

MEDICINE….

Please ensure that any medication that is required to be administered by passed on to a staff member.

GRADUATION….

This Thursday evening is our graduation ceremony over at the school.  Please be at the school at 5:30 for a 6:00 sharp start.

GRADUATION PRACTICE AT SCHOOL……

For most of the morning we  were at the school practicing for our graduation ceremony on Thursday night. We walked over with some of our parent helpers and practiced for our graduation ceremony. 

CHRISTMAS DRAWING…

Upon our return from our practice the children self-selected some activities inside.  The crayons were selected upon a table where Zoe, Summer, Lily and Georgia spent some time drawing.  We soon set up a  table with some Christmas art where our snow globes were continued from yesterday.  Due to the time and going to the show we had to pack away however many of the children asked to make a snow globe so we planned to continue during rest time.

SHOW…..

Later during the morning we went over to pre kindy for a Christmas show.  Everyone enjoyed listening and watching the magician perform different acts.  Lily and Harpa were invited to come up the front and assist.

PATTERNS….

Zoe, Jemma D and Annalise spent some time sitting with Miss Natalie creating patterns from some colour and number cards. 

MORNING TEA….

Shortly after everyone arrived we sat upon a picnic blanket and enjoyed a morning tea outside with Kindergarten 2 before going inside to call the roll, ready for our walk for graduation practice.

                                      GROUP TIME –

After we had morning tea outside we came inside and spoke about being safe and listening.  We paired up with a partner and lined up at the door ready to walk to the school across the road.

REST TIME….

During rest time we revisited a drawing activity ‘Santa in a snow globe’.  This was asked by the children as many did not have time to complete it earlier in the day.

Indoor

CHRISTMAS ART….

The children were invited to engage in some Christmas art today in preparation for our upcoming end of the year celebrations.   The children were invited to engage in some threading around a shape of a Christmas stocking.  Lots of concentration and perseverance was evident during this art activity.  Earlier in  the morning we read a book about Santa.  We then continued with some art by drawing an image of Santa inside a snow globe.  Glitter and glue was then placed upon the drawings.  We placed the book we read earlier in the morning upon the table as a guide.

BLOCKS…

Lily, Matylda and Hannah spent a moment of solitude upon the mat building with eth small wooden blocks.

BOOK AREA….

Harpa, Sascha, Charley and Oliver spent some time talking and sitting upon the big chairs within our book area.  For most of the morning this group sat and enjoyed quiet discussions between themselves.

COMPUTER CARDS….

As seen last week some of the children used box construction to create computers and phones.  Today word cards and images around information technology were placed upon a table with a computer keyboard and some pencils, however the table was not used or engaged with by the children.

TOMMORROW….

GRADUATION PRACTICE…

Tomorrow morning we have our last practice before our graduation ceremony on Thursday night.  We welcome any parent helpers who may like to attend the practice.

Look at parts of a computer and their names,  some of the children were unsure of what to call parts of a computer so we will look further at that.

Wednesday….

BLOCKS…

Some connection blocks . we set up under the shade of a tree. Indi-anna, Marena, Lily and Olivia enjoyed a quiet moment building and sitting alongside Miss Natalie where a short conversation soon arose about graduation on Thursday night.

SPORTS….

As a group we went to sports with Mr Damian where the children where invited to use some sacks to race one another in to a cone.  We got into groups and took turns jumping in the sacks and working through a tunnel as part of an obstacle.  The sack races provided further challenge and co-ordination for the children.

                                      GROUP TIME –

We came inside earlier this morning due to the warm weather.  We had a short discussion about health and safety in the bathrooms and what privacy means. We our Yugambeh language to say good morning and talked about our world map which we placed some images of hedgehogs, porcupines and echidna’s upon on Friday. We read a book about Santa before transitioning for morning tea and activities.

MUSIC AND MOVEMNET…

Later on during the morning we cleaned up and used our large piece of fabric to a movement song in a circle.  We then used our movement song using a puppet and then with ourselves.  The song supports control and impulses and requires the children to move and stop to the music.  We then used our letter cards to some music where the children took turns at standing upon a letter and identifying the sound and letter.

REST TIME….

During rest time we got together and shared our thoughts about going to school some of the children expressed their thoughts about making friends and where to go for help during lunch breaks.

EXCURSION….

Tuesday the 18th, we will be walking across the road to the school for a practice for graduation.  We have permission forms for the children who attend on the Tuesday.
