This morning outside, Malia and Charlie were playing on the fort. Malia was Elsa while Charlie was Ana. Zayden had tennis with Mr Trevor. Today, he was practicing to hit the tennis ball with the tennis racket. Zayden had to use his hand-eye coordination to make sure he hit the ball with the racket at the right moment. Zayden was able to hit 2 of the 3 balls with his racket! Caleb and Owen were playing with the bowling ball. They used the gaps in the wooden seat to roll it to each other. Caleb was on one side while Owen was on the other.

At group time, we completed our Acknowledgement to Country. Then, Miss Jade completed the roll. Once the roll was finished, the children helped count how many friends were here today.

Zeke chose the ‘Days of the week’ song and we completed the calendar. Mason did the weather saying that today was “Sunny, cloudy and windy.” Charlie then chose a yoga video which was the dinosaur yoga hunt.

Continuing with our theme of ‘Collections’ for Show and Tell. Benji and Zeke brought in theirs to share. Benji brought in his collection of small toys. In this collection he had a wide variety of Ooshies, cars and other fun things. He told us that his favourite one was the Transformer one. Zeke brought in his collection of Lego people. He had mostly Batman themed ones and said that his favourite was Batman and Batgirl. Thank you for sharing friends.

Today at activity time, we read the story ‘Monster’s New Undies.’ To support our reading of the story, we had an activity where the children were able to cut out undies for their monster and decorate it. To practice their scissor use, the children had to first carefully cut out the underwear. Miss Mel assisted the children in ensuring that their thumb was in the top hole while 2/3 fingers were in the second. Once cut out, the children had to glue it on the correct spot on the monster. Gluing their monsters down onto a sheet of chosen paper, the children were then able to decorate the monster’s underwear. Using glitter, pom poms, sprinkles and more, the children were able to create their very own designs for the monster. Kalani, Charlie, Ceylon, Owen, Mia and Adrian especially enjoyed this activity.

Noah, Emilio, Leo and Mason were playing in home corner. Noah was pretending to be the mum while Emilio played the baby. Leo and Mason were using the play phones to have a conversation with each other. They were using them like walkie-talkies. Benji and Gideon were doing the world, wooden puzzle. This was a trickier puzzle as there were only two colours and the complete shape was a circle. However, working together, Benji and Gideon were able to complete it. Zayden was playing with the cars. He was lining them front to back and seeing how long the cars were altogether.

Lilo was playing with the wooden letters. He was collecting all the letter Ls for his name. Caleb enjoyed playing Hungry Hippos. He loved trying to beat his friends to get the most number of balls. Malia, Irina, Zeke, Kento and Eden enjoyed playing with the galaxy (or universe) playdough that Miss Dakota made. It was a black playdough with purple, blue and green glitter spread throughout it. The children enjoyed using the dough to cut out shapes using the cookie cutters. This was a wonderful fine-motor activity.

For table activities, the children enjoyed crafting, name writing, alphabet road tracing, Lego and home-corner.

The children chose the phonics song to engage in and we then discussed the letter of the week which was the letter U. We spoke about the sound it made and what the capital and lower-case U looks like. Then, Miss Jade read a story about a word that began with the letter U.

Miss Jade spoke about ‘The Star of the Day’ and what it was. This was for someone who has made positive choices in kindergarten today. Today, it went to Leo.

Please bring in your family photos for our ‘Family Tree.’ Please bring in spare clothes for children as the children often engage in water play. Please ensure all toys stay at home as the children will lose or break them. Please ensure your child brings their Show and Tell on the correct day.
