This morning outside, Isaiah was doing some drawings of sea-life. He used the sea-animal to trace. Miss Jade asked him what animal he was tracing. “I don’t know” he said. Miss Jade replied, “That’s a manta-ray. It is like a sting-ray.” Mason and Zayden were building with the Brios. They were making a long piece that was connecting. Adrian and Kalani were also building with the Brios. They made a tunnel for a caterpillar to crawl through. The children connected the end of their contraption to the end of the pipe that was sticking out of the wall. Caleb and Benji were building a house out of the 2d magnetic blocks. It was a three-story house that had windows at the top.

Today we headed over to Kindergarten 2 for the morning. We joined them for group time and completed the roll. Miss Jess put on a ‘Days of the Week’ song and completed the calendar. Miss Jess then discussed how the children were learning about sunflowers and spoke about the life-cycle of a sunflower. Flowers begin as a seed, grow up to be a seedling, into a flower, dies and seeds drop to be new sunflower seeds.

Today for our learning experiences, we had indoor and outdoor play in the Kindergarten 2 room.

Noah, Irina, Owen and Malia were playing with the Littlest Pet Shop toys on the mat. Irina, Owen and Noah were playing together in a house and were making pet families. Malia was playing with her friend Ivy and they were pretending to be in a farm.

Ryder, Zayden, Leo and Mason were playing tag. The person who was ‘It’ had to chase the others around the yard and tag them. The children had a complication about the same children having to be ‘It.’ Miss Jade discussed that how the person who was ‘It’ shouldn’t have to aim to get someone, but to get the person who was closest and easiest to get. The children then discussed the rules amongst themselves and were able to play cooperatively.

Gideon, Kento, Adrian, Isaiah and Emilio were playing in the sandpit. Kento and Gideon shoveled sand onto the dump truck. It was very heavy for them to move around, so together they pushed it across the sandpit. Adrian was also playing with the dump truck. He was scooping sand and sandpit toys to place into the back. He would go around the sandpit and dump sand and toys. Emilio was doing some cooking with the sand. He was cooking some cake. Caleb and Benji were playing under the fort and playing with the pipes. The children were connecting the pipes together to create one very large pipe. “It’s like a marble run track” Miss jade said. “It’s like a water pipe” Caleb said. “You put the sand up here and it comes out here” He showed Miss Jade where the sand entered and exited. Isaiah enjoyed pouring sand onto the bottom of the slide and having it land on his feet.

Maya was doing some painting. She was painting a love heart.

Mia, Ceylon and Charlie were playing in the cubby. The children were pretending to be sisters in their dramatic play.

Kalani was using the cardboard cylinders to use as his arms. He placed his hands inside of the holes and used them to walk around in.

The children lined up at the door with their hats and shoes on. The children engaged in outdoor play.

Today for table experiences, the children enjoyed letter tracing, Tummy Ache game, triangular magnetic blocks, puzzles and home corner.

Mia and Owen shared their Show and Tell. Mia brought in photos of her family and shared her most favourite people. Owen told us that his favourite book is 101 Dalmatians. He gave us a short retell of the story.

Miss Hillary and Mr Phillip came for our gardening lesson. We first began our lesson with observing the crops such as the sunflowers, peas, lettuce, cauliflower, pumpkins and broccoli. The sunflowers were getting so tall that they were getting taller than some of the children. Next, the children got to water the plants and were able to take home some peas and radish.

The children went over the letters of the alphabet and the sounds that each letter made. Then, the children chose a letter to focus on for the day. We looked at the sound it made and how to write the uppercase and lowercase. Next, the children chose a song to engage in and the children brainstormed words that began with this letter.

Miss Jade spoke about ‘The Star of the Day’ and what it was. This was for someone who has made positive choices in kindergarten today. Today, it went to Charlie.

Please bring in spare clothes for children as the children often engage in water play. Please ensure all toys stay at home as the children will lose or break them. If you can, can you please purchase a class bottle of sunscreen for the children. Please ensure your child brings their Show and Tell on the correct day.
